Jungle Infiltrated Terrorists Strike STF & CDF Personnel

AMPARA: ISOLATED POCKETS of Tiger terrorists moving about in the general area of VENIHARAGAMA, PANAMA in the eastern AMPARA district opened fire on a group of combined Special Task Force (STF) troops and Civil Defence Forces (CDF) personnel on a foot patrol at about 12.30 p.m. on Tuesday (02).

The foot patrol reacted to the fire, forcing terrorists to flee into jungle areas following the attack. One STF trooper and a member of the Civil Defence Force succumbed to their injuries upon admission to AMPARA hospital.

A combined Police and Army search is in progress at the time this report was filed. Police investigations are on.
