Minister Sarath Amunugama invites Tata Nano to start production in Sri Lanka

Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) has recently made an offer to Indian automotive giant, Tata to start manufacturing the world’s cheapest car; Tata Nano in Sri Lanka.

According to BoI sources, Minister of Investment Promotion Sarath Amunugama has made this offer while earmarking a project site at the Special Economic Zone in Mirigama, located some 35 km north of Colombo in Gampaha district in the Western Province. Tata Nano

The proposal which is currently considered by the Tata Motors will help creating employment opportunities for Sri Lanka while starting the commercial production of a small, affordable and rear-engined passenger car aimed primarily for developing countries.
