Gas prices to be reduced- Minister
Due to declining global fuel prices the Government hopes to reduce gas prices further by March giving more benefits to the people, Minister of Trade, Marketing Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs Bandula Gunawardena said yesterday (05).
The Minister told the media that government intervention prevented the people from being victimized by profit making private companies and that the government was concerned about the welfare of the people and did not represent the interests of private companies.
He pointed out that on January 1st the price of a 12.5 kg cylinder of Shell gas was reduced by Rs.166 rupees and a 12.5 kg cylinder of Laugfs gas by Rs.276 owing to the drop in world prices.
