Muhamale LTTE 1st & 2nd line of defence Captured
Troops have overrun the highly fortified LTTE’s second line of defence at Muhamalai, during a swift incursion made, gaining 500m odd ground territory from LTTE today (Jan 6) morning.
THE existing LTTE’s Forward Defence Line (FDL) in MUHAMALE, JAFFNA was completely overrun and captured Tuesday (6) morning, bringing another blow to the LTTE. LTTE caught in total disarray following concentrated armour and infantry assaults backed by heavy artillery attacks which left, score of terrorists killed and many others wounded, Jaffna security sources said.
According to military sources, the combined 53 and 55 Division troops have seized control over the entire LTTE defence line, North of A-9, while fighting still continues in the remaining LTTE positions, south of the A-9 main road.
Terrorists have withdrawn further southeast after receiving heavy beating, the sources further said.
