Fill up your passports with personal details – Controller of Immigration
Sri Lanka immigration authorities instructs the passport holders to fill in the blanks provided in the inner cover of the passports when they go abroad and the Controller of Immigration and Emigration has requested the people to consider it as a requirement as this information is vital in the event of a death, an accident or misplacement.
He pointed out that this information is also important with regard to state defence. The Department of Immigration and Emigration has said that it has been observed so far the owners of the passports have not been interested in filling these blanks where the passport holder has to give details of person to contact in times of emergency.
The Immigration and Emigration officials at the Katunayake International Airport have been instructed to check these details in the passports. The Department has said that the passengers who have not provided this information in their passports may therefore face delays.
