4.2 magnitude earthquake in the New Delhi – Haryana area, India

4.2 magnitude earthquake shook Delhi for about 5 to 6 seconds on Wednesday night at 11.28 but there are no immediate reports of damage or casualties. According to the Indian Meteorological Department the epicenter was along the Delhi-Haryana border, near the town of Sonepat.

No damages or casualties have been reported. People came out of the houses in Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad as the intensity of the earthquake was very high. The tremors were also felt in Kashmir and Uttarakhand region, reported The Hindustan Times quoting agencies.

Delhi is among thirty important cities in the country that fall into high risk seismic zone while Srinagar is among places at very high risk of earthquakes.
