Sri Lankan in Canada rally against terrorism

A rally organized by several Sri Lankan organizations was on Saturday, June 21, 2008 starting from 10.30 am at Yonge and Bloor intersection in Toronto, Canada to express gratitude to the Government of Canada to ban the World Tamil Movement (WTM), which was found to have links with the LTTE, reputed to be the world’s most ruthless terrorist organization.

The Sri Lanka United National Association, the People’s Liberation Front (Committee in Canada), the Canadian Tamil Democratic Cultural Association, the Patriotic National Movement (Canada Branch) and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (Canada Branch) organized the event jointly and thanked the Canadian Government on behald of thousands of voiceless Sri Lankans who had to face threats and intimidation on a daily basis from Tiger Terrorists attached to the WTM.

The demonstrators warned that LTTE fund-raising activities are still carried out at a low scale and called upon Canadian authorities to ensure that freedoms are not misused by LTTE sympathizers.
