Anti-Sri Lankan elements in Europe are reportedly planning to make the maximum use of Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe’s forthcoming visit to Germany to tarnish Lanka’s human rights image with a view to scuttling the GSP Plus prospects.
It is understood that the anti-Lanka lobby would use the Opposition Leader’s proposed meeting with the Chairman and Members of the Bundestag Human Rights Committee to make a pitch to sabotage the extension of the GSP Plus status for Sri Lanka.
He is also due to meet NGO representatives during his visit, in addition to several Government figures, diplomatic sources said.
The visit is due to last three days.
