Sri Lanka has a strong opportunity to get a chance to enter into the top ten young fashion Entrepreneurs of the International Young Fashion Entrepreneurs (IYFE) Award in 2009.
Deputy Director, British Council, Duncan Wilson announcing the IYFE Award 2009 yesterday said this the second award ceremony introduced to the Sri Lankan fashion industry.

There were 25 participants last year.
IYFE award 2008 was held in London last February. Sri Lankan batik designer, Darshi Keerthisena competed along with nine other international winners from countries such as India, Indonesia, Mexico, Lebanon, Pakistan.
Entrepreneurial skills, like risk bearing will be assessed in the International Young Fashion Entrepreneur (IYFE).
Participants will be chosen from various fashion sectors such as fashion textile, accessories production and design, fashion promotion, fashion marketing and fashion publishing in Sri Lanka, Manager- Programme Delivery, British council of Sri Lanka, Ranmali Mirchandani said.
The applicants should be within the age limit of 25 to 35 years and working in the fashion industry and IELTS language skills six points.
The applications should reach the British Council is on 15, September, she said.
The National winner will be sponsored to UK for 10 to 12 days and will also be participating for the IYFE 2009 UK. This will be in February 2009.
