[ad#200×200]Due to the pro-terrorist nature of the Rameshwaram rally organized by DMK film director Bharathiraja many Tamil film actors and actresses are shying away from the rally depriving it most of the glamour. Reports in South India?s Chennai film industry (Kollywood) said the pro-DMK film director Bharathi Raja has been snubbed by many film artists when they have excused themselves from a Rameshwaram rally he was keen in organizing to save terrorist leader Velupillai Prabhakaran from being handed over to India to be tried for the Rajiv Gandhi assassination.
?The DMK Director of film has been organizing the rally due to his close relationship with the terrorist leader and many artists did not want to have any hand in that effort,? an opponent of the controversial Bharathi Raja said. He was once accused of becoming the Chennai Film Directors Association by unfair means.india once wanted Velupillai Prabhakaran to be handed over to India to be tried for the murder of Rajiv Gandhi and if his political life is prolonged as Bharathiraja plans by his rally many actors believe Prabhakaran cannot be tried for the murder.
Instead of the Rameshwaram rally, many film artists have said they would turn up at a day long fast organized by actor turned politician Sarath Kumar on November 1 to express solidarity with the Sri Lankan Tamils. The South Indian Actors Association has been very reluctant to have any hand in a political movement that would further terrorism of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
Bharathiraja publicly started attacking the film stars for not attending his pro-LTTE rally and said Sarath Kumar is trying to achieve a political mileage out of the Sri Lankan issue. “Can’t they be present at Rameshwaram to show solidarity with Sri Lanka Tamils?? Bharathiraja questioned the film actors in a tone of disappointment. While Bharathiraja supports the pro-LTTE DMK Sarath Kumar heads All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) which is more in alliance with the Tamil Nadu opposition.
During a past Kannada-Tamil conflict , the actors association has said Bharathiraja has not been supportive of the Tamil industry cause due to his interests in kannada films. While Raja is considered to be close to the ruling DMK, Kumar is in the opposition camp and heads the All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK). Most of those who are scheduled to attend the pro-LTTE rally are believed to be film technicians and directors who were working hard in the recent controversy of the Sri Lankan film Prabhakaran that depicted the crime of child soldiers by the LTTE. They were holding the film to protect the LTTE interests. Most of the film actresses and actors will not take part in the pro-LTTE Rameshwaram rally depriving them of glamour. (EOM)
