[ad#200×200]Colombo: LTTE light aircraft bombed locations in Mannar and Colombo a short while ago. The attack in Colombo led to the sound of anti-aircraft fire reverberating across the city, parts of which have been blacked out as a precaution at around 10.45PM.
The army says that a “terrorist aircraft” dropped two bombs near Thalladi, Mannar where a Army base is located. At least 1 soldiers was reported to sustained minor injuries due to the attack in Mannar.
LTTE aircraft managed to drop at least one bomb near KELANITISSA power station. Ceylon Electricity Board said a cooler connected to the gas turbine was hit, A minor fire caused by the blast was subsequently put out by the Fire brigade. Power supply to other parts of the country continued without interruption.
The attacks once again raise serious questions about the air defence and failures on the part of the SLAF. The TAF Zlin143 planes avoided the Sri Lankan Air Force radar by flying very low and manage to escaped without a damage.
As always the LTTE have not claimed responsibility for either attacks.
