[ad#200×200]Sri Lanka’s current ocean jurisdiction for fishing covers only 200 nautical miles, but it will be expanded to cover 1,000 nautical miles, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Felix Perera said.
He pointed out that Sri Lanka had to experience three unexpected crises – Terrorism, food and fuel – that had created economic recession. Under the Mahinda Chintanaya barren paddy lands cultivated and paddy production increased across the country, he added.
