Troops of 572 Brigade led by Colonel Senarath Bandara serving under 57 Division found three 130mm heavy artillery gun barrels and one 122mm artillery gun barrel from the Sugandhipuram area on Monday (2 March) morning.
According to the sources, in addition to four artillery barrels, a few accessories of the artillery guns were also found from the same area by the troops of 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry led by Lt Colonel Ipsitha Dissanayake serving under 572 Brigade.
Further Search operations are now underway to locate more military items buried by the LTTE terrorists before their withdrawal, defence sources in battlefront said.
