We are a nation with a conscience, never forget soldiers who protected our motherland – President

Heroic soldiers have been unmoved in the face of death to protect our motherland and there are many of them who are still waiting to purchase a stretch of land to build their own houses. And, it’s our social responsibility to lend a hand to such souls who merely forget their own wellbeing and travelled to battle fields to protect our own land. I expect all concerned citizens to participate in this event to help them build their own houses, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (24).

The President was addressing Young Entrepreneurs Society members yesterday evening at the Temple Trees. Young entrepreneurs have donated Rs 45 million for the project, “Api Wenuwen Api,” The project has been launched to build houses for soldiers. “Uprooting the menace of terrorism is of supreme importance to the future economic progress of our motherland we live denouncing all racial, religious, and caste differences. We live in peace and harmony in a united country just because these soldiers protect us from the front,” President said.

The LTTE intends not only reigning the North and East, but also the South too. Such cruel ambitions in the long-term is well clear when you come across mass storages of a multitude of weaponry the LTTE have been using in the battle field. Their dreams of a separate state are completely shattered and the organization broke into pieces. Now, we are able to live in peace as an independent nation. The full credit goes to the heroic soldiers, the President said.

“Each and every citizen of the country must take part in this effort. It may be politicians, entrepreneurs, artistes, or the masses as well,” the President concluded.

Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa also elaborated on the housing project. Presidential Secretary Lalith Weerathunga and many government officials were present at the occasion.
