Buried gold, millions of rupees recovered from Puthukuduiruppu

Troops of the Task Force VIII conducting search operations in the Mullaittivu district unearthed millions of rupees in cash concealed by the LTTE. Among the recovered items were 100 kg of gold and cash Rs 6.5 million.

Troops recovered the money during search operations conducted in the Puthukuduirippu area at around 01.40 pm said the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS).

In another search operation conducted by the troops of the same force in Pithukuduirippu, troops recovered 2280 MPMG ammunition, 273 T-56 ammunition, 02 ARUL bombs, 04 Hand Grenades, 05 Anti Personnel mines, 02 82mm bombs, 02 60mm bombs, 50 GPMG ammunition, an Anti-tank mine, 05 RPG Weapon parts, an outboard motor (9HP) and a shot gun cartridge, said the MCNS.
