TF-8 unearths two torpedoes and a launcher – Puthukudiyiruppu

Troops of Task Force 8 (TF-8) have unearthed two large scale torpedoes and a launcher which had been buried by the LTTE terrorists in Puthukudiyiruppu area while conducting the clearing operations yesterday, 29 June, on information received by the ex-LTTE cadre.

The two torpedoes and the launcher had been buried neatly wrapping them in Polythene when they were unearthed by the troops engaged in massive scale search and clearing operations in liberated areas.

The each torpedo 26 ft in length and 5 ft 7 inches in circumference while the launcher of 28 ft in length and 5 ft 10 inch in circumference and these had been safely kept underground in four different pits, military sources said.

During the same search operation, troops of TF-8 have found a complete 130mm artillery gun buried in the Puthukudiyiruppu area, military sources added.
