The Commander of the Wanni security forces, Major General Kamal Gunaratne said the victory against terrorism was not a victory of any individual, but a victory of the entire nation “All could enjoy the benefits of this victory, as it was achieved through the collective efforts of the whole nation”, Maj.Gen.Gunaratne.
” All faced the international pressure as one nation. The leadership provided by the President as the commander -in- chief of the security forces and the defence secretary was especially noteworthy. The security forces always acted placing confidence on the government”, he noted.
The Wanni security forces Commander said the victory over terrorism is a collective victory and not a victory of one man.
Major General Gunaratne further said that although the war has ended, the security forces continue to contribute to the nation building task. It is the security forces who extend the fullest cooperation in the process of resettling displaced people. The government and the security forces have taken measures to prevent the spread of the germs of terrorism once again.
