Victory Day celebrations postponed

The Government has decided to postpone the Victory Day celebrations which was scheduled to be held on May 20 at the Galle Face Green due to the prevailing unfavourable weather conditions and heavy rains.

The war heroes commemoration ceremony which is due to be conducted at the War Heroes Monument at Parliament grounds has also been postponed,” Media Centre for National Security Director General Lakshman Hulugalle said.

“We will conduct these two ceremonies once the current bad weather conditions are over,” he said.

He said that the new date will be announced by the Government later.

  1. whilet he the world is suffering from financial crisis ,it is hard to understand the mentality of sri Lankan gouvernment who want s to celebrate this unwanted,expensive military victory. Thereare nearly 500000 peoples are homeless due to monsoon but still the gouvernment wants so to celebrate this military victory . Even the whole debts of military hardwares has not been paid upto now!!

    Isn’t there any well educated men or women to demand thisgouvedrnment to stop all these rubbishes?????
