A group of Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarians is scheduled to tour New Delhi in early September on the special invitation of the Indian government.
Accordingly, a delegation of TNA parliamentarians including the party leader, R. Sampanthan is to leave for India during the first week of September.
The TNA team is expected to hold discussions with Prime Minister – Dr. Manmohan Singh, Minister of External Affairs Pranab Mukherjee and National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan.
The discussions will centre on the 13th amendment, merge of the North and Eastern provinces and means of halting the ongoing operations carried out by Security Forces in the North.
Meanwhile, a batch of 125 recruits to police department is to be trained for a month in India. They already landed in Chennai en route to New Delhi. The recruits, mainly from the Eastern Province, have been deputed by the Sri Lankan government to undergo a month’s training in New Delhi.
