Air raids on rebel targets in northern Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan Air Force MiG-27 fighter jets strafed LTTE Tiger rebel positions ahead of the Mannar battle front this morning, the military said.

Air Force Spokesperson Wing Commander Janaka Nannayakkara said air sorties were carried out around 8.20 a.m. targeting an LTTE stronghold located 3km southwest of the Periyamadu Tank.

Air Force fighter jets targeted three LTTE locations yesterday (04) in the North. A Sea Tiger Base located 1km southeast of Nayaru lagoon in Mullaitivu was attacked in the morning while LTTE artillery points in Kilinochchi and in Soranpattu area, 10km south of the Muhamalai Forward Defence Line were raided in the afternoon.
