At least 26 LTTE terrorists were killed and over 30 injured in yesterday’s (27) fighting ensued with Sri Lankan security forces in the eastern fringes of Puthukkudiyirippu and Karaiyamullivaikal, Ministry of Defence sources reported.
Successive attempts made by LTTE to engage concentrated assaults at the military forward defences North of Iranapalai and East of Puthukudiyirippu were comprehensively neutralized battlefront sources reported adding that sporadic fighting and small scale door-to-door operations are continuing in the area targeting enemy pockets and resistance positions.
Despite its successive set backs at the Mullaittivu battlefront LTTE is continuing shelling artillery barrages and mortar from the government declared No Fire Zone, which has also increased the number of injuries among those civilians fleeing from LTTE hostage, security sources said.
