The foundation stone was laid for the construction of a new apartment complex, to provide accommodation facilities to workers in the Katunayake “Export Processing Zone”, today (04).
The Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion Sarath Amunugama, speaking on this special occasion stated that the construction of this new building as an immediate measure to address the lack of accommodation facilities for the large number of workers in the Zone.
After completion the new apartment complex will provide housing facilities for over 1500 employees of the EPZ, Minister added.
The building will be set up in a land extent of three acres and will comprise a modern shopping complex, medical center, and a recreation ground for the convenience of the residents.
