PROTESTERS DENOUNCE NORWAY’S LTTE DEALINGS & INACTION

COLOMBO: A large gathering of protesters, belonging to National Freedom Front (NFF), Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) political parties and a few more organizations demonstrated in front of Royal Norwegian Embassy in Colombo this afternoon (20) denouncing “Norwegian inaction on Oslo embassy attack”, “Norway’s secret dealings with LTTE” and her alleged continuing support to the Eelam cause.

“USA-Norway-LTTE union has no room in Sri Lanka”, “Norway-Tamil Tigers are Bed-Fellows”, “Arrest both Prabhakaran & Tore Tattrem (Norwegian Ambassador)”, “This Tiger (Eric Solheim) attacks Sri Lankan Embassy in Oslo”, “Sri Lanka should give up diplomatic relations with Norway”, “Norway whitewashing Tigers should be expelled from Sri Lanka”, “No more ceasefires wanted”, etc were among the readings, depicted in the placards and banners, carried by those agitators.

The protesters waving National Flags with over a hundred Buddhist monks at the front of the parade wended their way along the Ward Place after starting off from the Vihara Mahadevi Park after observance of religious rites.

The protest that continued peacefully for several hours followed a series of comments, made by several foreign statesmen and diplomats, including the UK, USA and Mexico. The protest was attended by several prominent Buddhist Monks, Wimal Weerawansa, NFF leader and several leading citizens in the country.
