SLAF MiG-27 crashed, pilot safe

Sri Lankan air force MiG-27 ground-attack aircraft has crashed near Dummalasuriya in Kurunegala yesterday (13th Monday) afternoon. The aircraft which took off from Katunayake had crashed at around 1.35 pm, on a training mission, the SLAF reported.

The pilot Flight Lieutenant Tharidu Herath had ejected from the aircraft before it hit the ground and is safe, and no damage has been reported on the ground. Cause of crash still unknown, the Air Force Commander Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama has appointed a board to investigate the incident further.
