Sri Lanka Railways to strike again

[ad#200×200]Jan 15. The main unions of the Sri Lanka Railway Department have decided to launch an island wide strike over their unresolved problems.

According to the union sources the 30 main unions of the Department are to meet today to take a final decision on the strike and to decide the exact date if they strike.

The Railway unions say the faulty traffic signals and the salary anomaly are the main issues for the strike.

Meanwhile the work stoppage on government holidays and weekends launched by the Railway engine drivers’ union has been cancelled from yesterday.

The Railway engine drivers’ union said they will also participate in today’s special meeting on the upcoming strike.
