[ad#200×200]LTTE terrorists have suffered serious damages as troops moved further into non-liberated territory continuing its mop-up operations in the Western Kilinochchi battlefront on Sunday (Oct 19).

According to latest reports, troops of the Task Force -1, have captured approximately half-a-square kilometre of land area from LTTE, North of the Vannerikkulama built-up, Northwest of Nachchikuda.

LTTE resistant elements were beaten-off comprehensively from the area following confrontations ensued between troops and LTTE since this morning. Meanwhile, troops conducting clearing operations in the area have come across remains of 4 terrorists believed killed during the Friday’s (17) fighting. 4 T-56 assault riffles and accessories were also uncovered in the clearing operation, Wanni military sources said.

4 soldiers have also sustained injuries during the confrontations, the sources further said.

The Vannerikkulama built-up is located North of the Vannerikkulama Tank bund.
